Recent Projects
Oregon Child Development Coalition (2019 - Current). ELCG provides CLASS evaluation and follow up coaching services to Oregon Child Development Coalition (OCDC) in Clackamas, Marion, and Polk counties. ELCG provides individualized feedback to assessed programs and presents options for on-going professional development.
Marion Polk Early Learning Hub (2019 - Current). ELCG is currently providing CLASS evaluation services to one of Oregon's Early Learning Hubs in Marion and Polk counties. CLASS evaluations focused on programs receiving Preschool Promise funding in the Hub and were conducted for both English- and Spanish-language programs. ELCG provides individualized feedback to assessed programs and presents options for on-going professional development. ELCG provides the Hub with program-wide analysis and recommendations to guide Hub planning for regional professional development.
CLASS Observations. Olympic ESD (2019 - Current). ELCG is currently providing CLASS evaluation services to classrooms administered by the Olympic ESD in and around Bremerton, Washington. CLASS observation services includes administration of CLASS, follow up debrief session with the classroom teacher(s) and their program coach, as well as the creation of a narrative summary of assessment results with identified opportunities for growth.
Peninsula Children’s Learning Center. (2019). Provided comprehensive evaluation of program implementation to Neighborhood House Board of Directors. Evaluation included administration of the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale and Infant Toddler Environment Rating Scale as well as an assessment of program implementation and document survey related to Early Learning Division regulations for certified centers. Created report detailing results with thorough articulation of steps to bring program not only into compliance but to re-establish as a vibrant center for learning serving young children and families.
CLASS Observations. Columbia Willamette YMCA (2017). Conducted toddler CLASS observations, created narrative summaries and provided a numerical compilation of CLASS results to support program participation in a project to increase equity and quality of practice at local YMCA centers.
CLASS Observations. Portland Public Schools Head Start (2015 - 2016). Conducted CLASS observations, created narrative and numerical compilation of CLASS results, debriefed with teaching staff highlighting areas of strength and identifying strategies to improve intentional practices.
Evaluation of Best Practices for Dual Language Learners (2014). Employed teacher interviews, classroom observations and review of existing data sources in Head Start programs to identify effective practices to support English language acquisition by dual language learners. Findings and recommendations have been implemented in Head Start Programs across Washington, Oregon, and California.
Teaching and Environment Evaluation as A Guide To Professional Development and System Planning (Multiple Projects).
Instruments used include Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS), Infant Toddler Environmental Rating Scales (ITERS), Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scale (ECERS), Early Language and Literacy Classroom Observation (ELLCO). In all instances, the data were shared with teaching teams to identify individual strengths and areas of need, as well as aggregated to identify program wide trends and to further inform planning and allocation of resources.
Practices and Perspectives of Highly Effective Teachers of Dual Language Learners (2014). Through use of interview, observation and review of artifacts, identified practices of highly effective teachers of dual language learners. Applied results to policy recommendations for teacher training and education programs.
